Sam Ryder Robinson was born on 25 June 1989 in Maldon, Essex, to a carpenter father and a dental assistant mother. He has two elder sisters, Katie and Natalie. He began working in the music industry in 2009, as the vocalist and guitarist for metal band The Morning After, before becoming the guitarist for metalcore band Blessed by a Broken Heart and vocalist of metalcore band Close Your Eyes. He also lived in Hawaii and owned a vegan coffee shop for a while, before deciding to pursue his dream of becoming a solo artist.
